There are many advantages to prepaid credit cards. Prepaid credit cards are credit cards that have been paid for prior to any purchases being made on the card. The cards hold a line of credit based on the amount that is prepaid on the account. Once the card is prepaid, consumers can then make credit card purchases with the loaded cards.

One of the biggest advantages to prepaid credit cards is never having a monthly credit card statement. Users can stay within a certain budget when shopping and paying for expenses because the cards will not let you exceed the limit that you have already paid on them. In addition, you can budget for expenses and pay the credit cards to use instead of making a monthly payment on traditional credit cards.

Another advantage to prepaid credit cards is identity theft protection. If you make frequent purchases on the Internet the prepaid credit cards is an option for you. If by chance your information is processed on an unsecure server the only charges that can be made on the credit card that you used is the amount that you prepaid on the card. This does not completely protect you against identity theft but it can help to minimize the amount of financial damage.

Prepaid credit cards are interest free. If you stop and think about all the interest you pay on other credit cards throughout the year, you might not be saving very much on discounted products. Since the money on the prepaid credit cards is your money, there is no interest rate that you need to pay monthly. When the card amount is empty you can budget to add more or you can cut the card in half without ever having pay one penny of interest.
