Reduce Stress With A Walk Or Run
Reducing stress in your life is vitally important to your health and over-all state of mind. While there are many different ways to accomplish the need to reduce your stress, exercise is one of my favorites.
Let’s explore what happens when you relieve your stress through exercise.
There are many things you can do for exercise, but I find walking or running the easiest. There’s no equipment needed and you can be out relieving stress within a couple of minutes of deciding you need to.
When you get out for a walk or run, be sure to leave your cel phone behind. When you’re stressed, it’s a good idea to get yourself alone where you can reflect on what’s troubling you. As you walk, it’s very natural to just start thinking about your situation and ideas for solutions are usually not far behind.
Solutions to your problems are great for reducing that stress!
I’m a little funny in that when I walk, I like silence (as in, no music). But when I run, I like to put a favorite album into my mp3 player and listen to the music.
Another thing that walking or running does for you in relieving stress, is to get you out into nature. Especially if you live in the city, nature isn’t something you see much of. There’s something about getting away from all the man-made stuff and immersing yourself in nature.
Pay attention to the detail in the trees you go by. Or watch for any animals in your path and just watch their actions. It’s just a natural stress reliever as everything you see helps you to let go of all your troubles. It helps to calm you down.
When you can get away from thinking about any challenges in your life, it helps to take away the stress of it all. For those few minutes you’re walking or running, try to live entirely in the moment and focused on all that is around you.
Later, when you come back to whatever is causing your stress, you’ll find that you can tackle the challenges in a more refreshed and rested manner mentally. This is when real solutions that can lead to more permanent stress relief will often materialize for you.
So, the next time you need some relief from your stress, get out and get away from it all for awhile. It’s OK. You deserve it.

You should never go running alone without a cell phone, especially in wooded areas. If you injure yourself or find yourself in a bad situation, you will be less stressed out to know you can call for help.
