SEO – What Causes a Website to Disappear from Google?

Why would a website disappear from Google after being on the first page for two years? This particular website had no backlinks originally, was set up to answer questions about culinary arts colleges and jobs, and seems to have the appropriate number of keywords for the text. Any ideas?

The website, http://www.culinaryartscollegesite.com has been on the first page of google for almost two years. Shortly after getting an offer via email to purchase the domain name, the site disappeared. From what has been stated in research on the internet, it isn’t possible for the competition to remove a website or knock it out. Is that true? What other factors are involved in keeping a website on the first page of Google?

The website is optimized for the keyworks culinary arts college site and culinary arts colleges, and uses other keywords on other pages. Is there some way to find out what page of google the website is on now?

There were no other major changes made to the site itself. The page name wasn’t changed, the first page content was updated to remove some gray space, but nothing “black hat” has been done to improve the rankings or to trick google.

SEO is confusing at times but to have a website disappear for no apparent reason is baffling.
