If you really want to get hair extensions, you must be diligent in your research and pre-planning. Many of hair extension disasters can be avoided with proper preparation. If you haven’t read Step 1 and 2, go and read them now before continuing to Step 3-Researching the companies that offer hair extension methods.
Step 3 of 6:
Research the hair extension companies!
There are literally hundreds of different hair extension companies, all claiming to be the best. Obviously they can’t all be the best. So this step involves checking out each company to see what they offer.
Many hair extension companies offer hands-on training for the hair stylist and closely monitor and provide support for all hair extension issues. These types of companies will sometimes process their own hair for use in the extension procedure. By controlling what type of hair goes out to their hair stylists, these companies can maintain a quality control in their service. These companies will sometimes certify their hair stylists for their method of hair extensions.
There are also many hair extension companies that simply sell a kit with either written instructions or even videotape instructions on how to install and remove their hair extensions. We have received Email inquiries from many hair stylists about hair extension training programs available. Some of the hair extension kits/videos are readily available to the consumer.
Researching all of the hair extensions can be quite time consuming. If you do not have time to do this, you can purchase the E-book, Hair Extensions-The Official Consumer’s Guide to Getting Hair Extensions. All of the hair extension methods and companies are summarized and compared in an easy to read chart.
To begin research on your own, go to this list of hair extension companies and visit each of the company websites to get pertinent information. You can find the websites by typing in the name into Google.
Information that you should be looking for includes:
1.What type of hair is used and is it re-useable?
2. What type of training and/or certification is required for the hair stylist to attach hair extensions?
3. How long do the hair extensions last?
4. What type of hair are the hair extensions intended for and how long does your hair need to be to attach the extensions?
5. What are the average costs?
6. Where can you find a stylist that offers these type of extensions?
7. What sort of maintenance is there, and does it cost extra?
8. What are the side-effects of the method? I.e. can it damage your hair?
9. How long has this company been in business? (Type in the search box of any search engine ‘company name + problems’ to check them out
10. Are there any guarantees?
Be sure to write down the information so that you can compare/contrast the methods later. Stay tuned for Step 4-Finding a salon/stylist near you that offers hair extensions.

I agree with your advice but you can also use clip in extensions. All my clients are switching to clip in hair now as it looks jsut as good because its real human hair! Also there is no way it can damage your own hair! Have a look at www.headkandy.com to see more about the clip ins. I highly recommend this kind of extension as oppose to glue! x
