Sucralose Dangers

Is Splenda (Sucralose) as safe a some claim? Well, as of 2005 only six human trials have been conducted on Splenda (sucralose). Of these six trials, only two were completed and published before the FDA approved it for human consumption. The two published trials had a total of 36 total human subjects.

Though 36 total human subjects were tested in the sucralose trial, actually only 23 total were given it for testing. And the longest trial at this time had lasted four days and examined how sucralose related to tooth decay, not human tolerance.

Splenda has become the nation’s number one selling artificial sweetener in a very short period of time. And though the marketing pitch for sucralose suggests rigorous testing and 100 studies, the truth is these studies were mostly on animals.

No studies have been conducted with the use of Splenda on children and pregnant women. Much of the controversy surrounding Splenda does not focus on its safety, but on its advertising claims. In fact, the sugar industry is suing McNeil Nutritionals for implying that Splenda is a natural form of sugar with no calories.

The authors made it up. Their journalists, not scientists.

I am a student and researching sucralose for a class. I would like to know where you attained that information. It doesn’t seem like an easy thing to just come across, or just claim by hearsay.

I could not find where the references are about there only being 36 people in the trials or about the fact that there were only 6 trials. Where did you get your information?
