<p>I will start with the most difficult diet tip first; stop eating the wrong foods. A few guidelines can help you determine which foods are bad for you and your detoxification program. First of all, eliminate highly processed and fast foods. Forget the calories, its the fats, sugars, preservatives and processing chemicals that you do not want for now. </p>
<p>Next, knock off any foods that contain man-made sugars and enriched flours. Read your labels because even wheat flour may be enriched. These are removed from your diet because they can make you feel bloated and slow the cleansing process. Refined and processed sugars can make you feel bad during this time, as well. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Starting a detox diet means making definite changes to the way you eat or changing your eating habits for life, says Lesley Ellis, author <em>of 7 Day Detox Diet Plan. </em>When you detox, Ellis explains, it means you are leaving processed convenience foodstuffs and instead eat lots of fresh, natural whole foods. You need to eat foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals, much of it as possible raw, or only lightly cooked.</p>
<p>The author listed in her book some foods that are especially beneficial for cleansing the system. She recommended to eat one or two of these cleansers every day. These are :</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>&nbsp;Round wholegrain rice </strong>is a highly absorbent food, full of vitamins and fibre, that almost never creates an allergic reaction in people. If you cannot find round wholegrain rice, use brown long-grain variety. Do not use white rice. Boiled wholegrain rice is soothing to the digestive system and a traditional cure for diarrhea.<strong></strong></li>
<li><strong>Beetroot (red beet) </strong>is considered by detox nutritionists to be one of the best vegetable cleansers, helping the digestive system to work efficiently, and flushing through the system.<strong></strong></li>
<li><strong>Apples </strong>and<strong> pears </strong>are high in fibre and pectin so they help to clean the intestines.<strong></strong></li>
<li><strong>Papayas</strong> and<strong> pineapples</strong> contain fibre, vitamins and minerals as well as useful enzymes to help digestion.<strong></strong></li>
<li><strong>Lemons </strong>are not only full of vitamin C but also have strong cleansing effect, and help kick-start the digestive system.<strong></strong></li>
<li><strong>Sea vegetables</strong> and<strong> edible seaweeds</strong> are packed with vitamins and minerals, and are extremely soothing to the digestive system. Some kinds of seaweed, such as kombu, are considered especially useful for mopping up toxins in the system and flushing them out.<strong></strong></li>
<li><strong>Onions </strong>and<strong> garlic</strong> are valued by detox nutritionists for their antiseptic properties, for boosting the immune system and their blood-cleansing attributes.<strong></strong></li>
<li><strong>Olive oil </strong>: recent scientific research has shown that cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil is good for the heart and blood. It also stimulates the digestive system.</li>
<li><strong>Chilli peppers </strong>and<strong> other hot spices </strong>stimulate the digestive system and mucous membranes and encourage the body to flush out wastes and toxins. If your digestive system is delicate and if you are not used to eating spicy foods, use only a little at first.</li>
<li><strong>Ginger </strong>is considered an excellent cleanser and extremely calming to the digestion.</li>
</ul>
<p>While you are following the detox diet, you should also be making some gentle changes to other aspects of your life such as proper exercise, rest, and relaxation. These changes will help to make you feel fitter, healthier and more relaxed.</p>

Prior to a worsening of your digestive health, you may want to consider detoxification as an aide in waste elimination.  You can also choose to target specific organs for cleansing. Herbs can also be taken to strengthen these organs in the process.</p>
<p>Colon cleansing is probably the most popularly known of all the detoxification methods.  With a colon cleanse, you eliminate toxins stored in the intestinal tract.  You cannot remove waste properly if there is a blockage in your intestines.</p>
<p>Liver cleansing is also very important.  Your liver is in charge of about two dozen processes for the body daily.  It produces bile, an alkaline that aids in digestion via the emulsification of lipids.  It is also in charge of several high volume biochemical reactions. Cleansing this important organ therefore assists in strengthening your immune system.</p>
<p>Kidney cleansing helps your kidneys perform more efficiently. It usually involves consuming a very large amount of water or juice and then eliminating it all to flush the kidneys out.</p>
<p>Skin cleansing releases toxins lodged in the fatty layers just underneath the skin.  A skin cleanse can be done via herbs, saunas and sweat lodges.</p>
<p>When you cleanse toxins, you are enabling your body to function much better.  You experience less fatigue, clearer skin complexion, less body odor and tend to sleep better. In short, you feel a sense of rejuvenation; an increase in energy levels that is much more sustainable than obtained through coffee.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Many people are now wanting to know more about detoxification.  It is considered an alternative healing practice, since conventional doctors do not swear by it.  Detoxification is the process of removing toxins or contaminants from the blood, organs, and fatty tissues. Alternative and natural healing advocates say that we need to help the body detoxify when it no longer becomes capable of the waste removal function on its own.  Detoxification is a vital process for the organs like kidney, liver and colon, and the immune system to function properly.</p>
<p><span id="more-18806"></span><br />
The liver processes everything that you consume and the kidneys filter unwanted toxins before they go into the blood. When medications or chemicals in food damage the liver or kidneys, they cannot perform their job adequately. There is a build-up in toxins. It is possible that over a prolonged period of time, cells mutate and become cancerous.  An overload of toxins in the blood or fatty tissues can also result in disease. Hence, accordingly, it is important to remove these toxins before they start to threaten health.</p>
<p>When a toxin overload occurs, the immune system works hard to get rid of these toxins instead of focusing wholly on healing the body. A compromised immune system is definitely weak and increases your risk to developing all kinds of illnesses. An overactive immune system is another consequence of an excess of toxins in the body. Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis are examples of the body turning against itself when the immune system is overactive.</p>
<p>To detoxify, herbs are often used.  There are several of them with cleansing properties such as fennel, milk thistle, cat&#8217;s claw, burdock root, red clover, pau d&#8217; arco, cascara sagrada,dandelion and yarrow.  An appropriate one can also be selected for the specific health issues you are hoping to target.</p>
<p>An easy way to detoxify is to do so by juicing therapy.  Fresh, organic fruit or vegetable juice is a great way to give your body the enzymes, vitamins, amino acids, and minerals it needs. Try to choose a masticating juicer with a slow RPM. Other juicers destroy too much of the nutrients and much of the juice is left in the pulp. Juicing should only be done just before consumption to receive maximum benefits.</p>
<p>One more extreme method of detoxification is through chelation. Chelation is administered intravenously or orally. An injection consisting of vitamins, minerals, and herbs are administered to help the body rid itself of toxins and metals. You will need a diagnosis with a qualified naturopathic doctor, for this.  An example of an herb used in oral chelation is cilantro. You may be required to consume one tablespoon of fresh cilantro daily to remove heavy metals from the brain and blood.  Although it is cheaper, it will produce less instantaneous results as compared to an injection, with a cocktail of herbs.</p>
<p>There are some instances whereby you should not detoxify.  If you are pregnant or are severely ill, then do not go on any cleansing program without letting your doctor about your plans.  Also if it is your first time detoxifying, it is also a good idea to get some professional guidance.</p>

Whether in rural or urban parts of these countries, you must take certain precautions.  It is important that you weigh the advantages and disadvantages of possible contamination with every drink and food choice you make.</p>

Typical diseases you could contract include E. coli bacterial infections, hepatitis A, bacillary or amebic dysentery, shigellosis, giardiasis, cryptosporidiosis, and any of the noroviruses. Then there are also chances that you may develop a rotavirus infection as well as a number of different protozoan and worm parasites, salmonella infections and cholera.</p>
<p>Although most of these infectious diseases originate from the contamination of food and water, they can also be transmitted via the fecal-oral route. As these bacteria, viruses and parasites are found in people&#8217;s stools and if the person does not practise good hygiene and you touch the same surfaces they do, you could contract a disease. Additionally, if waste management conditions are less than ideal and sewage leaks into the water supply, you run the risk of drinking unclean water.</p>
<p>Water is a harbor for all sorts of contamination and can not only spread disease from ingestion of it but also from recreational activities as well. While it may sound like fun, swimming in contaminated pond, lake, ocean and river waters has its hazards.  If you accidentally swallow the water or ifit touches mucosal membranes like the nose, eyes and throat or enter your body through an open wound, you can make yourself sick.</p>
<p>Most definitely, you need to practise food selections.  You can forget about taking raw salads if the water is not clean; it is far better to eat cooked vegetables. Unpasteurized dairy products are best avoided. Wash fruits with water that you know is safe.  Never eat meat or shellfish that has been uncooked. Shellfish and other seafood could have been harvested from contaminated waters and only cooking will kill the germs that cause disease.</p>
<p>You should refrain from eating rare beef.  In all circumstances, cook meat thoroughly to kill any possible tapeworms, parasites and other germs that could be contaminating it. Eat food that has just been cooked and not left sitting in the open for a while. IThis is the perfect breeding ground for bacteria as well as contamination from food servers and dirty utensils. I almost never purchase food from a street vendor if I cannot be sure that it has been prepared in sanitary conditions or if food has been handled properly.</p>
<p>With regards to drinking water, only trust bottled water in sealed bottles. When you purchase them in other countries, always get more reputable brands and check the seal.  You never know if some of the locals may decide to use washed water bottles and refill them with local water supply to sell. Do not order drinks with ice either.  Be wary of how the ice has been made.</p>
<p>When bottled water is not available, then consider boiling your own water. Iodine treatments that come in pill or crystallized form will kill some bacteria in the water that cause disease but it does not always kill viruses and parasites. Although portable water filters are useful, it is not foolproof either. Sealed, bottled water is perhaps the best options for your supply of safe drinking water.  It may be more costly but worth taking the safety measures for.</p>
