For everyone that is moving, it can be a fairly confusing situation. It may seem like it’s easy to forget even the important things in all the confusion. If you’re one of the millions of people every year getting ready to move, and you don’t want to forget anything, using a moving tips checklist might be what you need. You can follow along, and check off everything you will need to accomplish as you do. That way you’ll know exactly what you need to do and when you need to do it, and you won’t have to have ten things to remember or ask yourself if you really finished a task. Here’s a sample moving tips checklist that you can use to base your own on. Remember though that a really effective checklist needs to be personalized to your move. That way, you’ll be able to get all the things done that you’ll need without forgetting your important tasks.

- Try to book your moving company at least one month in advance. Unless, you’re moving during the summer, then you probably want to get multiple moving quotes two to three months ahead of time. Summer is the most popular time to move, and the availability of trucks and labor can get really tight. Moving in the middle of the week, instead of on the weekends, will be less expensive, and will give you a better chance to schedule the movers.

-Notify everyone that needs to know that you’re moving. This includes your family and friends, doctors, dentists, your insurance agent and the postal service. By doing this several weeks before you move is the best idea, so you won’t end up rushing around at the last minute.

- Try to sort out items that you don’t want early on. Make arrangements to donate them to a charity or have a yardsale to earn extra cash. There are plenty of charities that will even pick up your unwanted belongings and furniture, although some of them may charge a small fee.

- When you are packing, be sure to label all of your boxes. Put the name of the room, contents of the box, and the place the box will eventually be unpacked is good information to include. – Pack up items immediately that you only use infrequently early on. Like seasonal items, bulky ones, or things you just won’t need before you unpack again can all go into labeled boxes and out stored of your way.

- If you have pets or kids, consider hiring a baby sitter on the day of your move. Getting everything out of the house will be much easier without little ones (furry or not) underfoot. – Pack, label and set aside, a “last load” that will go into the truck at the end, or that you want to go with you in a car. This can consist of items that are too fragile to go in earlier, or things you’ll know you need right away. Life will be a lot easier moving in, when you’re able to find the basic supplies and unpack them first.

- Make sure to defrost and drain your refrigerator, freezer, and drain any machinery of gas and oil such as lawnmowers, weed wackers at least a few days in advance. Also, try to use up any perishables and things that can’t travel with you (like frozen food), starting a month and half before you move. That way, you’ll have less to throw out or you can give away all your food items that have been opened and hardly used to a good friend or family member. You can even plan your menus around this strategy. http://www.freeMoveQuote.com is a site that offers multiple moving quotes. All movers meet license and insurance requirements, and are able to service your move.

If you’re thinking about moving to Florida, there is a ton of things to think about before you take the plunge. State to state movers have a lot more to worry about than people who are relocating in their home states. Different climates, different state laws required, different local costs of living and unexpected problems can all cause headaches. While moving to the Sunshine State has plenty of appeal, it’s a good idea for people thinking about moving to Florida to research and plan.

Keep in mind that Florida’s has a reputation for hot days and it is well deserved, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t get cold, too. Before you toss out all your warm sweaters and winter jackets, keep in mind that autumn and winter do happen. Rain gear is very important, too. Since Florida is mostly sub-tropical, it gets pretty wet. In many parts of the state, you can expect a rain storm every afternoon, that generally lasts for about an hour then, the weather clears up just as quickly as it came.

If you’re used to having a basement with as much square footage as your house for storage, you will have an unwelcome surprise when you start looking for places to live in Florida. Since the area is sandy, most all homes do not have basements or crawlspaces. This could mean it’s time to have a garage sale of unused items or having to get rid of what’s in storage at your house. This could be a great time to make some extra cash with items you no longer use anyways. If you’re tempted by coastal living, remember that hurricanes are a danger, and can happen, the good news is that usually you’re given enough notice ahead of time to plan accordingly. Also, check out the demographics of any place you’re planning to move to. The population make up of Florida varies greatly from place to place.

Keep in mind, that if you’re planning on conducting a job search, the best time to start is before you move. It can be pretty risky to move somewhere without having a job first. But, even if you’re going to be doing most of your looking after you arrive, finding out what the local industries and job climate are like and how they vary from what you’re used to could influence where and when you move. Employment opportunities vary by your desired field and location. Remember that home prices and cost of living can be pretty reasonable in Florida than in some other states. When you build your moving budget, take that into account.

When looking for state to state movers to help you transport your belongings, make sure to check the company’s reputation. With any big move, finding Florida movers can be a really big investment. You’ll want to be sure that you’re working with a reputable company that will provide you with quality service. Remember, if there seems like something’s not right, try another mover. Researching and planning your relocation will make <a href=”http://www.freeMoveQuote.com ” title=” moving to Florida”> moving to Florida a lot easier.
