Do you need content for writing sermons, theme papers, research papers, newsletter article, or perhaps a book?
Your life, with all of its relationships and experiences, should be the first place to look for fresh content for your writing projects.
Recently I began writing articles for websites. As I build my website, focusing the concept of Change Career, With Purpose, my website content is based on interactions with real people in my life.
One of the basic questions I often ask people in my job as a hospice chaplain is “how did you choose your profession?”. I asked this of people who helped us in the purchase of our house last year, from real estate agents to mortgage brokers.
When we took our dog in for emergency medical care, there I was asking people at the vets office “How did you choose this job, this profession?”
Perhaps you too, need a resource for fresh content, for whatever it is you write — sermons, work presentations, research projects, or newsletter articles.
I have discovered that just in the flow of life and in interactions with people in my world, there is a continual resource for writing website content, preparing sermons, authoring books, or completing research projects.
For example, my wife works as a professional educator, presently serving as site director of Point Loma Nazarene University Early Education Learning Center. (If the children, or even the college students, can say that without taking a breath, I think they should promote them a grade or two.)
Nonetheless, PLNU ECLC is laboratory preschool, which simply means that the college students in the various academic programs who need field work or practicum, especially in early education, find that the lab preschool can give them that real life experience.
And so there are students gaining field experience at the early childhood center or lab preschool, from…
who avail themselves to gaining experience for their college major, especially college courses that require field experience, and you can see that the early childhood center is a busy place.
Add to that list other college programs such as social work, psychology, the arts, and Christian education and you can see how my wife as site director spends her time.
Well let me get back to the challenge of finding fresh ideas and quality content for writing. When I write a website article, the challenge is to keep focused on whatever a website is suppose to focus on.
In my case, a website focusing on Changing Careers With Purpose, and you can see that content for my website articles flows from living life.
Maybe I should call my change career website a laboratory website. In fact my family often feels like a laboratory family, in that I take the experiences of living to be the basis of many articles on changing careers.
My guess is that if you have a website or are thinking about starting one, the people in your laboratory family may like mine. They may want you to tone it down a bit when it comes to sharing their personal experiences regarding aspects of life related to your website theme.
Just remember when writing about the experiences and aspects of life that relate to your website theme may need to be tweaked or rewritten because family relationships are more important than a website theme.
The Writing Potential For My Laboratory Family
In my laboratory family we have the potential for a great number of websites, books, articles, newletter stories, and whatever other writing assignments arise.
For example, my wife could write a book on early childhood learning, my son could have a website on Labrador Retrievers, and my daughter could self publish her short stories or have a home based editing business.
There isn’t a shortage of creativity as to fresh content. As I’ve heard it said: “Such is life!” How true for finding fresh content for my website.
