The Link Between Allergies And Leaky Gut Syndrome

In a normal digestive system, the cells that line the intestines “draw up” the materials that our body needs from the food passing through and it leaves what we don’t need. When you have leaky gut syndrome, the body “draws up” too much food, including undigested or partially digested food, and this food enters the bloodstream. If the liver is unable to process this food in a quick manner, then the body will begin to produce antibodies against these food molecules, simply because the food is considered foreign to the body. This process causes an entirely new problem for you to deal with. What causes leaky gut syndrome?

In babies, their intestinal walls are typically more permeable than adults, due to their young age. This is why they only drink breast milk or formula for the first few months of their lives. As we age, leaky gut syndrome can be caused by a number of different things, including poor digestion, nutritional deficiencies, and food allergies. The sad thing is that food allergies can cause leaky gut syndrome and leaky gut syndrome can actually cause more food allergies. This cycle can cause much damage and harm to the body of the person that has this condition.

The link between leaky gut syndrome and allergies is very strong. Food allergies can cause inflammation of the lining of the intestines, which can cause the permeability of the intestines to increase. That is why it is so important that you avoid the foods that you are sensitive to. By watching what you eat, you can help to keep the inflammation of your intestinal lining to a minimum. Another thing that you want to consider is that leaky gut syndrome can actually cause you to have new food allergies, too.

The creation of new food allergies is due to the fact that the immune system of the body sees the tiny molecules of leaked food in the bloodstream as invaders and produces antibodies to fight against it. As your body has to create more and more antibodies against many different foods, you begin to have allergic symptoms when you eat many different foods.

If you have food allergies, then chances are that you have heard of the link between these allergies and leaky gut syndrome. By being understanding more about the causes of your allergies and staying away from foods that you have reactions to, you can help to decrease the chance that you will have to live with leaky gut syndrome.
