Sausage Casserole — Baked French Toast — Baked Hash Browns
Sausage Casserole
Ingredients
6 slices white bread with the crusts removed
12 oz shredded cheddar cheese
6 eggs
2 cups milk
1 pound sausage cooked, cooled and crumbled
1 tsp salt
Directions
Lightly butter the bread and place in a 9 x 13 inch glass baking dish. Sprinkle the cheese on top of the bread. Wisk the eggs, milk and salt together. Pour the egg mixture on top of the bread and cheese. Sprinkle the sausage on top. Cover with foil and place in refrigerator overnight. Remove from refrigerator 15 minutes before baking. Remove foil and bake uncovered at 350 degrees or until the eggs are set. Serves six.
Baked French Toast
Ingredients
12 slices of French bread, cut diagonally in 1 inch slices
4 eggs
1 cup milk
3/4 cup half-and-half
1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons butter
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tbs dark corn syrup
½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
Directions
Butter a 9×13 inch baking dish. Arrange the slices of bread in the bottom. In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, cream, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over bread slices, cover with foil and place in refrigerator overnight.
In the morning preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and nuts – heat until bubbling. Pour over bread and egg mixture. Bake uncovered, for 40 minutes. Serves six.
Baked Hash Browns
Ingredients
2 pounds frozen hash brown potatoes
2 cans cream of celery soup
1 8 ounce carton of sour cream
¼ cup chives
10 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup melted butter or magarine
Directions
Thaw the potatoes. Butter a 9×13 inch baking dish. Combine all the ingredients and mix thoroughly. Pour into the baking dish. Cover the dish with foil in keep in refrigerator overnight. In the morning preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake for one hour. Serves 6-8.
