Time for new clothes

Kids outgrow clothes so fast! I’m sure I’m not the only parent to notice this.

They can go through a spurt and poof nothing fits. I usually buy my clothes off season at the clearance prices. It’s something to look forward to at the start of that next season and you save a ton of money. It works for me since I don’t buy a lot of trendy items. I stick to classics that last season to season. I do try that with kids clothes but it doesn’t always work.

We bought my daughter a fall/Winter wardrobe in August and by December we were out shopping for the next size up. She grew taller and shirts and pants had to be replaced.

One thing I have learned through all this. Coordinating outfits are great. Gymboree is expensive but their stuff is adorable and they have coordianting pieces and accessories. However, the bummer is if a shirt gets ruined an entire outfit may be a loss. Some thtings are tough to match up again.

I’ll buy a few of those kinds of outfits and then some basic pieces. Jeans are always easy. Plain jeans for little girls are tough to find and you may try the boys department. The embellished jeans are very cute but tougher to match.

Pick a color palette and try to coordinate it so there is a lot of mixing and matching. It’ll look like they have more clothes and is easie rif something gets ruined or they outgrow it.

For example, purple pants and lavender pants with patterned shirts that’ll work for both. If you want to take it to the next level then buy purple and lavender shorts to go with the shirts you already have.

I always try not to buy something unless it matches something she already has. It works for me and works great for her too.

Department stores have great sales so be on the look out there. I bought a $75 jacket for $25 recently. And it is reversible.

Things like jackets and gloves can be bought a little big to extend how long they can wear them too.

I’ve found that the discount stores (Target, Wal-Mart) ave some great children’s clothes and as fast as they outgrow them or acquire grass stains on the knees you can’t beat the prices.

Let me know where you like to shop for children’s clothing. I’m always on the look out for deals on children’s clothing.
