I agree about Atlantis in the Bahamas…also,

Orlando isn’t the only family spot to take your children in Florida. I love Disney World, but the crowds and spending can be a little insane, and you don’t want to take your kids to Disney every year.

Perdido Key is a great, more affordable family vacation. I live just outside of the town in Pensacola, and I go to Perdido every weekend to hangout on the beach and then eat at the Wharf afterwards. Also, the Wharf has a lot of concerts going on during vacation season. Kenny Chesney is coming in two weeks.

Just letting all you know who don’t want to go to Disney World yet another year

I have 2 kids under the age of 4, so finding the right vaca spot with kids the 1st wk of June is turning out to be difficult. I was looking into Sylvan Beach in NY (Oneida) but came across some other great ideas…. Knoebels theme park in Erie where you don’t pay admission, you pay for the rides, and the pool area (and of course food and souveniers). Nearby campling sites and hotels.

Also was looking into Camelbeach in the Poconos, PA. That looked like another great alternative because of the specator pass, since I would mainly be watching the kids, but this will allow them fun in the water when the weather can be unpredictable in June in the NE. That way their father can go enjoy some fun time too!

going to Six Flags or Darien Lake, or Dorney Park were not options with my kids so young, maybe in a few years. Niagara with Sea World was in the running at first, but with the new border laws and enhanced drivers licenses now required, it’ll have to take a little more planning than my last minute no seniority vacation week! Same with Disney because for the pkgs you need to plan in advance.

Looks like a great idea. I’ll be able to take my kids to a basketball camp at Disney. They can enjoy the camp and we can all enjoy Disnet World.

Thanks for this post! I’m always looking for fun places to take my family. I did notice however that these vacations tend to get a bit pricey.

I also want to suggest an idea for a inexpensive vacation around wherever other visitors to this site might live.

If you have kids, and not a lot of time to plan, and not a lot of money to spend, think INDOOR WATER PARK. There are plenty in Wisconsin where i’m from, expecially in the dells. Our personal family favorite is the Great Wolf Lodge, http://dells.greatwolflodge.com. But to those of your readers not from Wisconsin, i know that there are indoor waterparks in probably every state. I’ve visited them in ohio and poconos personaly.

The Indoor Water Park vacation is perfect because you can go any time of year, and there is PLENTY of stuff for kids to do as well as adults. It’s great for birthday parties or full blown family vacations. We go once a year.

anyways… thanks for your posting… once we save up we’ll definitly use some of the suggested vacations here!
