Valentine’s Day Prettiest Symbols

We know almost nothing about the origins of Valentine’s Day: people generally think that its source lies in Lupercalia that were celebrated annually by Romans. They used to honor Lupercus, the protector of their fields and herds. Lupercalia were celebrations of purification, resurrection and fertility and happened around mid-February.

There is also a legend about Charles of Orleans who sent love letters on February 14th to Mary of Cleves, at the time when he was prisoner in England.

Another common belief is that on February 14th birds begin to mate at the approach of the spring.

However, Valentine’s Day has been recognized for centuries and there is a medieval tag that says:
