Most baby monitors operate on the frequencies 49 MHz, 900 MHz or 2.4 GHz. One of the problems is that other electronics also use these same frequencies and they can cause interference with each other. There is also one other frequency 1.9 GHz (DECT), which has also been approved for baby monitors to work on. However you can find cordless phones working on the same frequency. So make sure that you check the frequency the baby monitor works on before buying and compare this with electronic equipment at your home. If you have cordless phone or wireless network that both work on the 2.4 GHz frequency you should look at a monitor that Works in the 49 MHz or 900 MHz to reduce interference.
