Why dieting doesn’t work

Built by Perriann Rodriguez on Monday, April 2nd, 2007

Are you on a diet right now? Chances are good that just about everyone is on some sort of diet right now.

So, if everyone is always on some sort of diet, then why aren’t there more thin people?

Does your diet work?

If you are on a diet, is it working? There are so many reasons why diets don’t work or they fail in the end to generate consistent weight loss. Here are some very common reasons:

1. Unrealistic goals. You love to eat junk food all day and keep it in the house at all times–leading you to cheat on your diet easily.

2. Boredom. You are used to eating all different kinds of things and suddenly you are eating just a select amount of foods.

3. Inconsistent. One day you do really well, the next day you are eating every thing in site. Consistent dieting and exercise are key to achieve weight loss.

4. No exercise. Many times, as we get older, it becomes extremely hard to lose weight because our metabolism keeps slowing down. Without some sort of exercise to help kick the metabolism into high gear, our weight loss efforts may fall short.

5. No support team. If you are really trying to lose weight and your friends/parents etc keep popping in with donuts, pies and cakes, you may have trouble staying on your diet.

6. No accountability. If you don’t start keeping track of what you are eating and when, it may be very difficult to stick to any type of calories/day diet.

In short, for a diet to work you need to address these 6 issues above.
