Wood wind chimes originated with the Ancients of China. This particular culture developed these intriguing musical instruments to assist in various types of ceremonies and religious events. As time progressed, more and more cultures became inclined to this type of wood wind chimes. They were easy to create as they implemented the use of natural resources and materials, and many cultures were excited by them due to the fact that they seemed to have many health benefits associated with them as well.

It is also believed by many that the sweet sounds that are given off by these musical devices allow an individual to experience wealth, that they can optimize their health, and that they experience good fortune. Wood wind chimes can prove to be quite an expense if purchased already made. However, you can create your own easily and for a fraction of the cost. Here, I will tell you how!

The first thing that you will need to do when creating your own wood wind chimes is select the type of wood that you want to use for your project. One of the most common and inexpensive types of wood that you can select is bamboo.

You should purchase at least four to six small sections of hollowed wood. These pieces will serve as the rods that will serve as the main frame of the musical component of your chimes. The next thing that you should do is go to your local hardware store and pick up some small hollow pieces of metal.

For the best sound effect, select ones that are different lengths and widths. When purchasing these pieces, you will want to ensure that they have holes in at least one side of them. This will ensure that you can tie them up to the base of your wooden wind chimes.

Once you gathered the wood and the metal tubes, you now need to gather some fishing line. You will also want to get something that will serve as the “top” of your chimes. Something like a medium sized wooden birdhouse can be effective for this.

For the purpose of this article, we will go with the birdhouse. Drill in some screws on the bottom of the birdhouse. Next, simply tie in the fishing line that is holding all of your components to the screws for stability. Next, simply apply an “S” hook on the top of the birdhouse, and now you have created your very own wood wind chimes!
