World Of Warcraft Guild Banks Overview

With today’s release of patch 2.3 Blizzard has introduced Guild Banks into the World Of Warcraft.

This has been needed for a long time in my opinion. Previously you had to have someone’s alt, or more then likely multiple alts, that acted as banks. This caused many problems, not the least of which was the inevitable sharing of logins and passwords so other guild officers could access the guild bank. Many times players might not even know their guild had a “guild bank” if they never asked about it. The most you’d probably get was a “Anyone need this Primal Fire before I put it on the AH?” in guild chat if you were lucky.

History aside, how can we best utilize the new guild banks now that they’re here? Let’s take a look!

The guild leader can purchase up to 6 tabs that each have 98 item slots. The guild leader can then set permissions to view/deposit/withdraw from each tab. This is very powerful as you can easily set up a system to allow everyone to see what’s in the bank and to deposit and contribute in a meaningful way on the players time.

Players with appropriate permissions, also set by the guild leader, can store items and money for use by the rest of the guild.

This setup will really pay off for well run and tight knit guilds. Sharing will make the game so much easier and allow you to function much more like a guild instead of a bunch of individuals that happen to share the same chat channel.

Players may use the Guild Bank withdraw limits to pay for item repairs. This function is now enabled on all merchants, so as soon as your guild bank is up and running you will all benefit. Transaction logs of the last 25 actions within each tab are kept as well as money activity to give the guild leader a clear view of what’s going on just in case there are any problems.

Guild banks have been greatly needed for some time and I believe Blizzard has done a good job planning this out.
