You Have to Eat to Lose Weight

That kind of sounds like maybe a mistake was made, doesn’t it? You have to eat to lose weight. It’s not a mistake but you have to understand the concept.



If you eat too little, your body thinks you are starving itself and it begins to store fat to protect you. The key is to eat the right amount of food everyday – not too little and not too much.

You should discuss this with your doctor. Understand that there are far too many weight loss programs out there that are very unhealthy. The low carb – high protein diets can be devastating and I’m betting your doctor will tell you they are a no-no. Carbohydrates are important in your diet. You need carbs and fat and protein to be healthy.

The key is to eat plenty of vegetables and eat what you like, but in portions. Eat your mashed potatoes but measuere them before you put them on a plate. A cup of mashed potatoes may easily fit in your diet, whereas a large helping is most likely going to pack on extra weight.

You need a balance of these fats and carbs and protein and your doctor most likely has a nutritionist they can recommend that can help you determine what works best for you. Weight watchers is one program I find that follows this. They give you a point total daily according to your weight and your weight loss goals. You are not to go under this point total because you do not want to begin storing fat.
