Many celebrities swear by the Zone diet. It has been around since its inventor Barry Sears helped countless Hollywood stars lose weight and be fitter, without looking haggard. Initially the Zone diet appealed to female celebrities like Jennifer Aniston and Demi Moore. However, men are also wising up to the benefits of going on this diet. Because of market demand, Barry Sears has also decided to adjust the diet to suit men’s differing metabolic and caloric needs.

The goal of the Zone diet is to keep the blood sugar levels from spiking and the hormonal production at an optimum level. Food choices are needed. For instance, men are encouraged to keep each and every meal within a certain predefined zone: 30% protein, 30% fat calories, and 40% carbohydrates.

The drawback of the Zone diet is that it may not be all that easy to follow. Because it is rather restrictive on the carbohydrates, you may need to make a change in your overall eating patterns. Not to forget, celebrities like Jennifer Aniston and Demi Moore have the luxury of employing chefs to cater to this kind of diet.

Of course, once the switch is made, Zone diet can work. It can be just the healthy alternative that you need, to other diets. Men in particular have been known to benefit from this diet.

One thing you need to note with the Zone diet is that weight loss will not be dramatic but more on a gradual basis. Hence, it is not a quick fix. You may be disappointed if you are hoping for instant results. As with any form of diet, it is best that you also couple it with regular exercise. This can help keep your weight off.
